PONDICHERRY AIDS CONTROL SOCIETY

AIDS is caused by Human Immuno Deficiency Virus- HIV. AIDS is an infectious disease regardless of method of transmission. HIV/AIDS exists everywhere and huge number of people are at risk. The HIV/AIDS pandemic have reached massive proportions. All indications point to the situation worsening rapidly. AIDS would impair the body’s ability to fight infections.  At present there is neither any effective vaccine to prevent the HIV infection nor any effective drugs to permanently cure the infection. Hence, prevention and education to all sectors of the community to be scaled up, particularly to those that are more vulnerable to HIV infection.
